The Rude Pundit

Lee Papa is the political blogger known as “the Rude Pundit”; he has tens of thousands of weekly readers and is a regular guest on the nationally-syndicated radio program, The Stephanie Miller Show. His first one-man performance piece, 2005’s The Rude Pundit in The Year of Living Rudely, debuted at the New York International Fringe Festival. In her review, Margo Jefferson of the New York Times called Papa “a tornado of a writer” and “a child of Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor and Hunter S. Thompson.” The show sold out before it opened, and Jefferson wrote that Papa’s readers are “the kinds of shrewd, passionate fans mainstream theaters would kill to attract.”

Papa performed his second show, The Road to Rude, to sold-out audiences at the High Performance Rodeo at the One Yellow Rabbit Theatre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in January 2007. He has also performed in Philadelphia and Washington, DC. Papa is currently a professor of drama studies at the College of Staten Island/CUNY

Papa has a new play, Heterosexuals, opening at the New York International Fringe Festival in August. Purchase tickets here
