• Humorist Charlie Pierce (author of “Idiot America”)calls in at 7:30am Pacific to talk about health care reform, the economy, and other news of the day.
• Rep. Robert Andrews (D-NJ) calls in at 8:30am Pacific to talk about health care reform and the economy.
• Former President Bill Clinton is expected to speak to Senate Democrats today about the importance of health care legislation during their weekly caucus. President Obama wants to sign the legislation into law by the end of the year, but abortion opponents in the Senate are seeking tough restrictions in the bill.
• Nearly a year before Maj. Nidal Hasan allegedly went on a shooting rampage at Ft. Hood, terrorism investigators conducted an “assessment” of him before deciding he did not pose a threat. After the shooting, the FBI is doing a new assessment – of its own conduct. President Obama, meanwhile, will attend a memorial service for the victims today at Ft. Hood.
• D.C. Sniper mastermind John Allen Muhammad will be executed today for the attacks that terrorized the nation’s capital region for three weeks in 2002.
