• A wing part that washed up on the French island of La Reunion is “very likely” part of missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, according to the Australian official leading the investigation. Searchers continued to scour the coastline of the remote island in hopes of finding more debris.

• A judge on Wednesday scolded the state department for its slow release of Hillary Clinton’s records from her tenure as secretary of state, but Clinton on Thursday insisted that she is personally releasing the emails in question in a “timely fashion.”

• Zimbabwe intends to seek the extradition of an American dentist who killed a lion that was lured out of a national park and shot with a bow and a gun, and the process has already begun, a Cabinet minister said Friday.

• Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump said he is confident he would “get along very well with Vladimir Putin,” despite the contentious relationship the Russian president has had with the United States in recent years.

• A police officer who killed a man in Cincinnati during a traffic stop has been indicted for murder, the Hamilton County prosecutor said today, noting, “This was the purposeful killing of another person.” The prosecutor called what sparked the shooting a “chicken-crap stop.”

• Plane debris found on the shore of the island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean has fueled speculation that it could be part of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which mysteriously vanished more than a year ago with 239 people on board.

• The Republican presidential contest has grown to 17 candidates with Wednesday’s entry of Jim Gilmore. Yesterday, the former Virginia governor On Wednesday, he filed the necessary paperwork with the Federal Election Commission.

• Army Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Wednesday that the recently signed nuclear deal works to keep Iran from having an atomic weapon, but does not address other concerns about Tehran’s malign activities in the region.

• Donald Trump distanced himself Tuesday from comments one of his top advisers made in an explosive interview while defending the Republican presidential candidate from a decades-old rape accusation.

• President Barack Obama said Tuesday that he could win a third term in office if he ran again but that he is barred by the Constitution. “I actually think I’m a pretty good President. I think if I ran, I could win. But I can’t,” Obama ad-libbed during a speech in Ethiopia.

• Authorities in Waller County, Texas, released hours of jail video on Tuesday in an effort to knock down the idea that Sandra Bland was dead before she was brought to jail. The video, which does not have sound, shows Bland being brought into the jail.

• Two Zimbabwean men were expected to appear in court Wednesday over the killing of Cecil the lion, one of Africa’s best known big cats. But most of the attention — and the anger — is focused on Walter Palmer, a dentist from Minnesota whom Zimbabwean authorities say they are seeking for their investigation.

• Police said three people, including the shooter, were killed last night in a movie theater in Lafayette, LA. Two died at the scene, including the gunman, and the third in a hospital, Police Chief Jim Kraft said. Authorities said nine other people were wounded.

• Donald Trump yesterday landed in the border town of Laredo, Texas to meet with local officials, speak with law enforcement and tour the border between the U.S. and Mexico that has become a contentious symbol in his campaign for president.

• President Obama today will become the first sitting U.S. president to visit Kenya, the birthplace of his father and a country he views as a strategic economic and security partner for the United States. Obama plans to talk to Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta about security and counterterrorism.

• Waller County investigators say no injuries consistent with a violent homicide were found during an autopsy of Sandra Bland, who was found dead in a Texas jail 11 days ago.

• Sandra Bland, whose death in a Texas jail has raised suspicions about the official conclusion that she hanged herself, told a guard during the booking process that she had tried to kill herself in the past, the sheriff said Wednesday.

• Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry came out swinging at his fellow Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump Wednesday in a speech that called Trump’s candidacy “a cancer on conservatism.”

• The Federal Election Commission has released Donald Trump’s personal financial disclosure, the mandatory form for presidential candidates that details their assets and liabilities. Trump has said that he is worth $10 billion. An analysis estimates his assets to be worth at least $1.4 billion.

• The suspect in the Charleston church massacre planned to kill blacks with the goal of “fanning racial flames” around the country and as retribution for perceived slights against whites, according to Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

• Bill Cosby’s attorneys said in a motion filed Tuesday that the alleged victim in a federal lawsuit against the embattled comedian has “made a mockery” of a confidentiality agreement that was part of a settlement in the 2006 case.
