Dave Gilson of Mother Jones talks with Stephanie Miller about his article “10 Pro-Gun Myths, Shot Down,” in which he dispels the idea that the government is coming after everyone’s guns. Gilson says that civilian gun possessions outnumber federal and police possessions by 79 to one. And regarding the refrain “guns don’t kill people, people kill people,” Gilson says that in fact people who own a gun are more likely to kill someone with a gun than people who don’t own a gun. Gilson also points out that not a single mass shooting has ever been stopped by a civilian with a gun.
