• Mitt Romney on Wednesday accepted an endorsement from Arizona Sen. John McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, as he pushed for an overwhelming victory in next week’s New Hampshire primary.
• Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann has suspended her campaign for the White House. Bachmann said she leaves the race knowing the campaign was run “with integrity.”
• President Obama announced a recess appointment to name Richard Cordray as the nation’s chief consumer watchdog despite strong GOP opposition, bypassing Senate approval. “I refuse to take `no’ for an answer,” the president said told a cheering crowd in Ohio.
