What’s funny is she was dumbfounded by the fact that so many people have negative opinions about vegans/vegetarians. Maybe it’s because you say stuff like “I can smell the cheese on you”. That’s worthy of a dropkick to the face in some cultures.

You go to church, you are told how to behave, who God is, and what you need to do for Him or he’ll get pissed at you. To explore the broader teachings of love and grace is too hard for most to handle, so they don’t. They pass down a bunch of old interpretations, sell it as the gospel truth, and move on to next week’s sermon.

You go to work and at most workplaces the way to get ahead is to not rock the boat, don’t offer creative solutions, don’t offer ideas, and just shut up and do what you’re told.

And then they call that submission and silence “being a team player.”

There is something weird going on here with climate change, I’m pretty sure (and I say pretty sure because I believe in the scientific method, and I don’t have complete proof–if I cared less about facts, I’d say I know it). Bob Ryan (the meteorologist) said there is really something unusual about two huge snowstorms in one season. We need to keep studying and learning.

I know when I was in my 20s I did not have many critical thinking skills. I didn’t have a college education and my high school education didn’t give them to me. It was only when I faced a number of crisis and lost faith in everything I had been taught so far that I started looking for answers and reading a bunch of books that made me question all I had been taught about life up until then.

Then when I went back to college I learned to do more of that. But alas, some colleges don’t even teach critical thinking skills!
