Jennifer Palmieri of the Center for American Progress calls in at 6:30am Pacific to talk about health care reform

wallisRev. Jim Wallis, founder of Sojourners, calls in at 7:05am Pacific to talk about health care reform, and the national call-in with President Obama today.

Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) calls in at 7:30am Pacific to talk about health care reform.

sparks• Comedian Hal Sparks joins us in studio at 8:05am Pacific to talk about all things politics and pop culture.

• Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), the lead GOP senator in bipartisan health care negotiations, said yesterday that he urged President Obama this month to make clear he would accept a bill without a government-funded public insurance option. A White House spokesman yesterday expressed doubt that Grassley’s plea to Obama had any impact on weekend comments by Kathleen Sebelius that a public option is “not an essential element” of health care reform.

• Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said yesterday that information her husband brought back from North Korea has been “extremely helpful” by providing a window into what’s happening in the reclusive country.

Hurricane Bill, the first hurricane of the 2009 Atlantic season, strengthened into a Category 3 storm yesterday with top winds near 125mph. It looks likely to miss the U.S. East Coast.

280, everyone who knew him said he was kind and generous to a fault. I wish that made a difference. I didn't know him and he was a treasonous vainglorious bastard who would have garotted his mother if it earned a single vote for the Nazi party. Nevermind that he was born a Jew and converted to Catholicism. He was a Nazi through and through. And every time I start to feel a little low, like the world is too heavy to carry, I just remind myself that Robert Novak is shoveling coal in hell and I feel a little better. I hope he stays dead. I hope they put a great big stone on his head so that even if he does come back to life, he won't be able to get out from underneath it and tunnel to the surface. I hope they lock his coffin and put a stake through his heart. Just like they did with Nixon and Reagan.

Last caller yet another dope shooting off his mouth--Medicare Part D doesn't reimburse physicians, it's prescription drug insurance, and crappy at that (thanks Shrub!). Unfortunately, I know all about it--i'm a retail pharmacist.

Still waiting for the Sparks Spork on shopping channel. Have a good day all. Safe trip on SBA, Steph!

Well, that's all folks. Have a good day.

I actually have met Novak a number of times. He's not a bad guy in person, he just has some very strange views.

Buh bye, fellow BloggonMooksters!

Don't you dare change a thing.

Momma headed to NY to hook up with John Fugelsang?

Poor old Robert Novak, I suspect he woke up in Hell, in the Republican Thug Wing.

If the private insurance industry is so damned efficient, let them compete against an available government program. They should easily be able to make a fine profit and offer a superior value to the government, if they are so bloody efficient.

Happiness is a warm gun. Freedom is just another word for nuthin left to loose.

we have to be our own media

good luck with that one caller

I'm back. When Thom Hartmann read his letter about expanding Medicare and letting everyone buy into it, a bell went off in my head. We have to fight the insanity and ignorance of the RWNJs with simplicity.

It's very HARD for the RWNJs to fight simplicity because they cannot hide their arguments in the dark corners of complexity.

K street owns DC. 6 heath care lobbyists for every legislator.

"The rule is perfect: in all matters of opinion are adversaries are insane." -Mark Twain

Gotta' run, peeps. I have a lunch audition.

Oh, if you are in Columbus, the best short films made under insane time pressure will screen tonight and tomorrow (We 6:30 & 8:30, Th 7:30) at Landmark's Gateway theater. $21 gets you all 3 Group screenings. Come support Indie film!

Hal, can we all spoon with you now?

264. wow that sux. was it John Roberts?

Maybe we've pointed the Dems in the right direction!

#261, the irony is, the SCOTUS didn't give corporate personhood in any case. The case cited actually rules against corporate personhood. A dishonest clerk, working for the robber barons, wrote corporate personhood into the summary of the decision, and courts have treated it like precedent ever since.

258: In a man-sized safe in Dick Chenney's office.

#257, amen. Also, have you heard they've got a bacterial strain that will turn cellulosic biomass straight to octane now? Still a bit away from commercial use, but a better solution than biodiesel.

Biogasoline + inline hybrid when I need a car, biking the rest of the time. It will be a green 2010s for me.

it's because MONEY TALKS and SCOTUS gave corporations the rights of personhood and they've GOT THE MONEY to buy legislation. the question is why did the DEMOCRATS give the power to Baucus and Conrad?

Hal does an exceptional job deconstructing issues. When he did the whole week for Steph and the mooks, he got better and better.

Shall we start a pool to guess when he gets his own show?

And how is it 'comedians' make more sense than politicians and pundits?

Isn't DC bigger than North Dakota and Montana? Where are our Senators?

#249 I do like the direction that GM (with the Volt) and Nissan (with the Leaf) are taking. The present hybrid are basically petrol powertrains assisted with battery. In the new cars (Volt, Leaf) the petrol is there to extend the range of the electric powertrain. Makes more of a difference in fuel economy and is worth the increase in complexity over, say, a turbo diesel.

Hello, all. I just wanted to stop in to say hello. I am in the middle of writing a blog on my site so I won't be able to contribute much. But I wanted to do a drive by hello!

*question* off topic and sorry if it is obvious... how do I upload a personal profile picture so Im not a grey blurb?

#251 Marks for messes? Euros for trash?

Have the birthers and health care reform deniers blown their 'wads' already?

Perhaps Obama is letting them use up their ammunitiion.

Keep emailing your right wing relatives the facts. In the end, everyone may throw their tv s right out the window - except for MSNBC of course.

244: That was Kash fur Klunkers.

245. Centaur. Part handyman, part Mr Happy

We'll be on hybrids for awhile, we've yet to build an infrastructure to have charge stations on the interstate, airports, hotel parking, and gas stations.

Ohhhhh baby. Hal...you minx you.

there should be a pre-existing clause in the public option

"if you were one of the idiots screaming at town halls, or any other type of right-wing turd that jumped on the "socialism-nazi" bandwagon, you are shit-out-of-luck"

Yep. GM will be bringing over 1000 workers back to the Lordstown plant:

239 centaur or unicorn?

Cash for clunkers was a German program, Obama stole it.

You mean the Stimulus bill didn't send all our jobs to China and the economy straight to hell? A Republican doom and gloom Congressman was wrong? Gasp and clutch pearls!

#238 - they need some kind of detoxing!

237. I thought Steph got a centaur?

Here's a plan. Medicare for all and mass enemas and douches for the brainwashed. HMO's could do the honors.

217 230 yer on fire~! great posts

222 yes, the dream house/compound comes with a bridle path,
but alas no pony... Steph is eternally without a pony or a man, poor
girl. At least she has mooks. But ya really gotta love the cape.

I don't care what Obama's playing. I'm playing Chutes and Ladders.
