sandersSen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) calls in at 6:30am Pacific to talk about green jobs and health care reform.

sestakRep. Joe Sestak (D-PA) calls in at 7:30am Pacific to talk about health care and his possible run for Senate.

fugelsang• Comedian John Fugelsang joins us in studio at 8:05am Pacific to talk about all things politics and pop culture.

• Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) said yesterday that the chamber won’t vote on a health care reform bill until after the August recess. Reid said the leading Dems and GOPers of the Senate Finance Committee, who are negotiating a compromise plan, have asked for more time to complete their work.

President Obama took his health care offensive on the road to Cleveland, Ohio yesterday, accusing top Republicans of playing politics with his top domestic legislative priority. He also said, “We have never been closer to achieving quality, affordable health care for all Americans.”

• The commissioner of the Cambridge, Massachusetts, police department said yesterday he “deeply regrets” the arrest of prominent black Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., but stands by the procedures followed by his department.

• President Obama is leaning hard on the nation’s schools, using the promise of more than $4 billion in federal aid – and the threat of withholding it – to strong-arm the education establishment to accept more charter schools and performance pay for teachers.

omg, Mama and the Mooks! I collected my stephcast and listened to the first two minutes and you mentioned one of my favoritest comediens, Kevin Meany!
You Big Pants people! hardy-har-har!
love him! love you! love Carlos and that dreamy John Fugelsang!

Hal is a bit alpha for me (but really smart with good views). It felt kinda like getting yelled at while you were gone, so I didn't listen.

Wow it got nasty in here - somebody open a window!

Have a good weekend!

(Frangela should be on KTLK 2pm-4pm Pacific Sat/Sun)

Good weekend everybody. Get some sleep.

Point of order: Nero didn't fiddle while Rome burned.

Nero was known for his accomplishment at playing the chorus, which is a droneless bagpipe.

Have a good weekend everyone!

381... its called white-blindness. Walk from 6mile to 7mile, along JohnR or Gratiot in Detroit, and feel the unseen eyes on you, feel the 'what are doing here' stares up the back of your nervous neck, feel how out of place you are are...

Now, remember that most of us who are minorities feel this way everyday in white America.

Wouldn't O'Reilly just say Germany = Nazis?

Thanks for the Gravatar hint. It worked beautifully.

Who else is on the Finance committee?

Fat Fred Flinstone Head - it think I just peed my pants.

me to... later!

Gotta go, Y'all. Been a blast as always. Have a great weekend!!!!!

A pile of manure does more than Harry Reid.

I would love to hear the police call from neighbor Lucia. Was she sounding terrified?

Harry and Louise will go either way for cash.

I must be way behind here. I know all of my neighbors, at least by the way they look. How long had he lived there and why didn't she recognize this distinguished Harvard Prof.?

Hello Stepanie
Answer to caller Rodney, tell your brothers the police have all the power..be polite, don't move until asked, and don't look over your shoulder while driving if they are behind you. I learned that in my 20's while driving with a boyfriend,he said we're being followed I looked back and we got stopped, questioned- where are you going,no ticket given...In 2003 I was stopped while turning into UCR campus, dropping off my daughter, car loaded with small children,at night, first question are you on parole or probation, then the license,no ticket given...How many white women get this question...Obama and Gates forgot they were black,at their level...Gates not being calm, with the policeman and Obama using Stupidity is all the Repulicans needed.. 56yr old black female..

#376 Of course not. Remember when he went to dinner in Harlem with Reverend Al, and then on his show talked about how impressed he was that the people were quietly eating their food, not shouting and misbehaving like he expected?

368... I'm betting that she was one of those "They all look alike" types...

The world's worst Star Wars product:

It's a Jar Jar tongue lollipop. You have to French kiss Jar Jar to eat it.

There was picture of Gates a few days ago that did show all sorts of pictures and plaques and awards in the background, in fact I actually tried to blow the thing up but it was too pixelated to see any detail. Don't know if that pic was from his own home or perhaps an office elsewhere.

Bill-O is a non-racist. Okay I tried to keep a straight face as I typed this.

Is Prof. Gates married? Maybe young people don't have lots of pics of themselves, but someone older who has family undoubtedly has pics of themselves and their family. Or they could come up with one in a very short time. Just like the police could.

@368 her name is Lucia Whalen, she's the one that said there were two black men with backpacks messing with the door

Why are these "birthers" being given any more air space? It's time to grow up and move on people. His mom was a US citizen and THAT ALONE makes him a US citizen, depsite being born in HI - also proven repeatedly. Geez....

I have family pictures on my walls. Doesn't his ID have his picture on it?

#361, the police officer says he did a whole lot of things to make himself seem like he was following the correct procedures. Sure he did.

#367, I'm a raging egomaniac, so there are pictures, but they're all of me in kilts, usually period outfits.

I only have pictures of me with other more interesting people (like my Grand Father or old bandmates, etc..)

I want to know which one of Gate's neighbors didn't recognize him and called the police.

I don't have any pictures of myself in my house either!

I don't have any pictures of me on the wall. Lots of pictures of family member, but I'm not in them. Makes for better pictures.

Chris is such a tool. He only cares about issue that directly effect him, like gay marriage. Since he is white, he will not have this experience.

I don't have pictures of myself in my house.

Why is we accept the power of the police and 'the use of force' downward, as in protecting the property of the rich from the thieving poor, yet people freak when there is a reciprocal demand to protect the poor, the minorities, the unconnected from the wealthy and powerful?

Americans will cheer when a thug is caught stealing from a department store, but are bitterly divided about hauling away the owners of that store when they price-fix, form monopolies, sell unsafe products from China, etc.

the officer says he did provide it 2 times but Gates was yelling at him and not listening....

#342 - or do what I do. Turn down the volume....

356 -- the Rodney was ersatz

#348 Ain't heard much from ol' Kevin lately. Must be on vacation or something. Then again, Randi Rhodes now lives in DC so maybe THAT explains it??

Hey, what just happened aka Rodney?

In Jim and Chris' world, the police can tell you to dance a jig in traffic, and you should comply. What the F%$%?!!!

Just too much made of this. We don't know what really happened!!
And who is this guy "lame*ss comedian". Sitting here in my tinfoil hat, is this the beginning to oust Jim?

351 -- any theories as to who was Orrin Hatch's binky?

Not to beat a dead horse or anything, but that stinking ad is on AGAIN!!!!! Twice in less than 10 minutes!! GAAAACK!!!

MSNBC is reporting that Orrin Hatch, who has never voted against a Supreme Court nominee in his career, is voting against Sotomayer. Hatch supposedly walked out of a health care meeting the other day in a huff, now this. Must have lost his binky.

Who's afraid of the big, bad Republicans?? Progressives, that's who.

#342 Good point. Guess I'll keep doin' what I do and quickly switch over to some random iTunes song for a minute or two. (Currently listening to 'Fiddlers Green' by the Tragically Hip.)
