    WHERE is everybody?

  2. Good morning, BloggonMooksters. Hope you are all doing well..

Hal Sparks is great, but he needs a sound box, as well!

  3. LeftCenter says:

#1 People were on Monday’s because Producer Chris overslept.

  4. LeftCenter says:

So once again…good morning, live blogospherians!

  5. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

Let’s explode things to celebrate the end of war.

  6. LeftCenter says:

Stuff exploding in the air is a lot better than shells exploding when they hit the ground…I guess.

  7. I see Dickhead Cheney is opposing the withdrawal of American troops from Iraqi cities, which is a sure indicator that it is righteous..

  8. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

Toby Keith has nothing better to do.

  9. MidWestRuth says:

hmmmm things I’d like to blow up: Michele Bachmann’s supply of hairspray..it must be poisoning her brain

  10. LeftCenter says:

#7 Wasn’t it the administration that he was a part of that made that agreement in the first place?

  11. shāf says:

Thanks for the fresh blog, ProducerChris! You didn’t have to, but we appreciate the extra effort.

  12. LeftCenter says:

We actually would have had a shot at Sparta on the old one…but I appreciate fresh sheets at night and a fresh live blog in the morning.

  13. LeftCenter says:

They don’t listen to polls. They listen to the insurance companies that are lining their pockets.

  14. What I’d like to know, here 8 months after the election, is why the hell isn’t Al Franken a Senator yet? It’s not good for Minnesota, of course, and it is another example of disgraceful behavior by the Republican Party. They’ve spent ~$1 million on this latest example of thuggery.

Damn, I hate the Republican Party and everything the greedy bastards stand for.

  15. MidWestRuth says:

just curious : did the US mercenaries leave the Iraqi cities also?

  16. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

That’s correct, Hal. We want health care. But the Dems care more about getting all that money from the insurance money, than giving the people what they want.

  17. LeftCenter says:

“We have nothing to fear except everything.”–The Republican Party

  18. LeftCenter says:

Oops…I misspoke. It should read: “The only thing we have to fear is everything.”–The Republican Party

  19. What Republicans fear is anything that might threaten THEIR money.

Greed, hypocrisy, thuggery – the modern Republican Party defined.

  20. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

Forget the Repubs and the Dems. We’re never going to get anywhere with them in power.

  21. LeftCenter says:

I was an independent until Newt Gingrich and the contract on America.

  22. shāf says:

#15 I think the pullout only applied to combat troops. So contractors are probably exempt. Of course there was the Iraq’s ban of Blackwater security for diplomats:

  23. MidWestRuth says:

I think it’s that if being gay is a result of nature, then the God-hates-gays group just look like haters, even haters hesitate to damn God’s creations…They want it to be a choice, because then they feel free to condemn.

  24. SueC says:

Hello Bloggies! Haven’t been here in awhile…and unfortunately, only a minute to check in this morning. But still nice to be back on the sms blog:)

Just finished listening to podcast of Hal’s show yesterday…Good Job, Hal! Really enjoyed it–great discussions, good insight. Looking forward to the rest of the week!

  25. LeftCenter says:

I wonder whatever happened to, “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.” Oh, yeah, they hate the sin but love the sinner while persecuting him/her.

  26. I’m BAAAACK~!

after a brief hiatus from politics, I can finally stomach it again. I’ll be here with you, SMS livebloggeurs, just for today… but then I am going back on hiatus.

it was really nice not to have to fret over Obama’s campaign pledges not being fulfilled.

  27. SueC says:

    #9 – LOL !

  28. Speaking Michelle Bachmann’s stupidity – how about her stance on not giving the Census complete information? Actually, it’s against federal law to willfully do so..

What’s more stupid that Michelle Bachmann? Her supporters.

  29. LeftCenter says:

#28 Her district in MN must be so small that inbreeding has taken over. That’s the only explanation I can think of.

  30. SueC says:

#28 – Exactly. Where in the world do her supporters come from???

  31. shāf says:

#28 Yep. The fact the good people of Minnesota’s 6th congressional district saw fit to re-elect her in 2008 makes me wonder about their collective sanity.

  32. SueC says:

#29 – well, that would explain it!

  33. MidWestRuth says:

Fortunately it looks like Michele B will have great competition. There’s female MD who’s going to oppose her in 2010.

  34. LeftCenter says:

From my facebook page. “Different people mourn in different ways. Joe Jackson mourns by plugging his new record company.”

  35. SueC says:

Gotta take off already — have a Great Tuesdee, Everyone!

  36. shāf says:

Indeed. WTF with Joseph Jackson? How about a “I’ve lost my son.” instead of “I’ve lost my meal ticket.”

  37. #36

that kind of parenting is exactly why the Bible’s commandment “Honor thy mother and father” isn’t a law.

  38. I finally got HDTV, it really is nice. I can see the wrinkles and excess makeup on Megan Kelly! The installer kept switching over to Fox News (presumably because it is broadcast in HD), after the third time I stopped him and asked him specifically how to BLOCK Fox News from my favorites list. Being a grouchy old 62 year old liberal, I told him, “that’s right, I don’t want to be able to land on Fox News, even accidentally.”

I guess quite a few people want to see how Fox News looks..

  39. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

    That doctor is incompetent.

  40. shāf says:

“On your deathbed, you’ll receive total consciousness. So, I’ve go that going for me as well.”

  41. MidWestRuth says:

JJ just another on the list of horrible celeb dads: Jessica/Ashley Simpson’s, Mark Sanford, Jon Voight, lalalallalaaa

  42. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

    Joe Jackson is a douchebag.

  43. Mebbe did Voight’s “research” for Midnight Cowboy change him somehow? Huh, huh? Say no more! Say no more!

  44. LeftCenter says:

Sounds like he’s saying it’s going to take 8 years to do something about gay rights.

  45. PJ Squeezy Louise Hussein McFlavin says:

When “Colonel” Tom Parker’s meal ticket expired, I believe he was quoted as saying “This doesn’t change a thing.”

    Good morning Blogomites!

  46. LeftCenter says:

$45 At least “Colonel” Parker wasn’t talking about his own kid.

  47. MidWestRuth says:

in my heart of hearts, I like to think Obama has Term#1 and a Term #2 plan, and won’t jeopardize Term #2 by going too far left right now

  48. LeftCenter says:

    $45 = #45.

  49. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

Congress is too busy trying to pass a law against adultery to repeal the defense of marriage act.

  50. what’s really sad about Michael’s death is that he won’t be making any more music…

    he USED to be GREAT.

  51. LeftCenter says:

#47 I hope you’re right. Although I have no illusions about Obama. He’s an Illinois Democrat which makes him center/left, not left.

  52. You heard that Screamin’ Bill Mayes died? They’re saying it was likely a heart attack, not related to his bump on the head from the airplane.. Nothing against the guy personally, I know he was prosperous, but I simply could not stand that screaming style of his for the infomercials. I watched one episode of the Pitchmen series, well part of it, and was amazed that he didn’t scream like that in real life..

50 years old, it’s too young to die (same comment for MJ).

  53. Sarahpanda says:

Hal Sparks is yummy. His yumminess precludes my ability to make political commentary.

  54. LeftCenter says:

#52 I don’t act at home like I do on the job either. Can you imagine what a teacher’s home life would be like if s/he acted like a teacher there?

  55. #52

I won’t miss Mays’ terrible voice.
    sorry.

maybe he would’ve lived if he didn’t stress himself out selling OxiClean?

  56. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

Now, people are seeing MJ’s face in clouds. (shaking my head)

  57. shāf says:

#52 Indeed, when people younger than me die, that’s too young.

  58. obamarules says:

Did Hal say he was ‘filling in’ Mama? Hmmmm? ‘Cause I was wondering how interesting it was that Mama and Rachel Maddow are on vacation at the same time – maybe to Argentina?

Maybe she swings both ways or is leading Hal on like Rosie O’Donnell used to fake-love Tom Cruise.

  59. MidWestRuth says:

give it a few years….we’ll be hearing about some kid who was born just after MJ died, and the parents will claim he’s a reincarnation…and Joe Jackson will jump on it…and arrrghh

  60. LeftCenter says:

I think this “transition” is generating angst because people are being discharged under DADT.

  61. Good Morning All!!!!!! Glad to be back. I was listening here and there yesterday but was too busy to LiveBlog (much as I wanted to). Old Hal is doing a pretty damn good job all by his lonesome. He should get a comedy buddy or two in there to be his Replacement Mooks.

  62. shāf says:

#60 Hmmm, kinda’ like the incarnation of the Dalai Lama?

  63. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

If the reports about MJ’s will are correct, Joe Jackson gets zilch. That means he’ll have to force his way into control of everything, which is what he’s always done.

  64. shāf says:

#62 Several of us on the Live Blog offered our services, but no takers. ;)

  65. shāf says:

#64 If there’s justice, there’ll be a ‘Daddy Dearest’ book written by one of the kids (once they’ve been de-programmed).

  66. LeftCenter says:

Why do I think we’re not going to hear Hal’s favorite part until the top of the hour.

  67. hello! my absence yesterday was completely coincidental having
nothing to do with Momma’s vacation. I did get to listen on
the radio a little, Hal does a great job, but I agree with
    #2 Momma’s got a box and he doesn’t, making her better…

  68. #65 You’d think he would want someone to take the pressure off. Three hours solo for a radio newbie is pretty impressive. Granted he has guests and callers and LOTS of commercial breaks, but still….

  69. 52 55 Billy Mays was an obnoxious jerk. I do wish Vince from
Skamwow died instead of him tho.

  70. PJ Squeezy Louise Hussein McFlavin says:

#58: I imagine Stephanie and Rachel are getting side-by-side mud baths at Rancho Relaxo…

  71. 42 yes! Joe Jackson is a major douchebag. And he’s poised
    to cash in now…

  72. obamarules says:

South Carolina has a law on the books outlawing adultery – uh oh!!

    SECTION 16-15-60. Adultery or fornication.

Any man or woman who shall be guilty of the crime of adultery or fornication shall be liable to indictment and, on conviction, shall be severally punished by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars nor more than five hundred dollars or imprisonment for not less than six months nor more than one year or by both fine and imprisonment, at the discretion of the court. (http://www.scstatehouse.gov/CODE/t16c015.htm)

  73. 71 and I’m imaginin’ that after a few too many Margaritas Stephanie
and Rachel are mud wrasslin’ in the mud baths at Rancho Relaxo…

  74. MidWestRuth says:

#73 is that per occurrence? what if the violation was outside SC? does the injured spouse get the money? IMWTK

  75. PJ Squeezy Louise Hussein McFlavin says:

#68: It’s enough to give a guy box envy.

  76. LeftCenter says:

#73 The law doesn’t apply because he went out of state (and the country for that matter) to commit adultery. Smart cookie that Gov. Sanford.

  77. MysticalChick says:

Must concur about Hal bringing the sexy back! He’s intelligent, funny, has a great voice and oh yeah, he’s a babe. I was counting the days ’til this week so I could hear him for three hours every day.

  78. 73 Repug scumbags never quit. As Hal pointed out yesterday
Vitter, Ensign, Sanford, Craig… they all cry and apologize
but won’t resign. I can only hope the voters kick these filth
out. Hal was dead on when he said if you make morality the
keystone of your campaign then it’s a larger breech of trust.
How can these voters still vote for these jerks? They must
    be of subnormal intelligence.

  79. LeftCenter says:

Time to head to the DMV. Back later (depending on line size).

  80. obamarules says:

I wrote an email to Pres Obama about ending ‘Don’t ask don’t tell’ and I’m not even gay. It’s just like men trying to tell women what they can and can’t do because they are chicks and have periods- (dumdumdum -screaming woman sound from Mama’s box)
I pointed out the FACT that US military already serve with homosexuals when they work as a part of a mulinational force with nations who allow them to serve.

  81. MidWestRuth says:

gotta admit I was suckered in by the ‘true love’ aspect of Sanford’s teary mea culpa…much more human and understandable than somebody out trolling bathrooms…but now they’re saying it’s been more than one woman…so he’s right back on the scumbag list.

  82. Rocky Mountain High, Colorado says:

    Good morning.

#28 I think it would be great if Bachmann’s supporters refuse to answer the census. That will mean those regions will have less representation in Congress.

  83. midwestruth

a common statement by someone who is cheating is that it’s “true love”
what the betrayed spouses and counselors say is that it is actually a fantasy because it’s without the warts of everyday life …. it’s idealized and most often cannot stand the stresses of real life

  84. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

Everybody who says the president is playing chess, is going to look really bad if they’re wrong.

  85. liberalhussein is trying to be capt obvious today

  86. MidWestRuth says:

Cindy, true enough. been there, been a victim of that. was willing still to acknowledge people, even Sanford, do find love outside their committed relationships though.

  87. shāf says:

    There’s different… and then there’s nucking futs!

  88. Geevie says:

The reason that Republicans are allowed to keep changing the rules is because they know how to manipulate their constituents through fear. If you look at Representatives like OK’s Sally Kern, she says the most outlandish, backwoods things but she hits on a vein of fear that makes the voter respond by keeping her in office. They sell everything on the basis of fear. Health care puts your kids in debt. Hate crimes bills attack your religious freedom. Gay marriage attacks your marriage.

It’s a classic bait and switch. And since humans react in a very primal way to that fear, it’s an almost knee jerk reaction for instant fight or flight that has very little room for logical thought and reason.

  89. midwestruth – he skipped fathers day for his out of marriage squeeze … it’s not true love it’s the without warts kind

  90. shāf says:

Joe is one of the Creepy People around her (Mrs. Jackson).

  91. shāf says:

    #103 Great minds, eh Cindy?

  92. thank you Hal — I’ve been thinking those things for the past few days …. Joe saw MJ as a commodity not as a child …. ring as much money out of him … etc. etc.

  93. gee I’ve only seen one of the movies Hal Sparks has been in

  94. wonder if MJ’s mother will need to file papers against Joe … or if the Jackson children will stand against their dad

  95. “Some people hated Ben Franklin, but it never seemed
to bother him. He was extremely smart, and he had a
keen understanding of politics… He was dirty
and filthy and covered with fleas, and he took his
women by the two’s and by threes. Whoops, scratch that
one. Just kidding. Ben kept himself clean as a
whistle — except when it rained, and then he went
all to pieces.” — Dr. Hunter S Thompson, from Better Than Sex

    almost talking about Gov Hotpants

  96. Geevie says:

What worries me is the future welfare of those children. Looking at the upbringing they’ve had till now and then getting the sick feeling JJ will capitalize on whatever meal ticket he can wring from this whole situation, almost makes you want to hope these kids are tone deaf and have no rhythm.

  97. typical scumbag republicans. Gov Sanford outsourced his mistress,
putting a good American mistress out of work… the bastard

  98. Geevie … I don’t think he’ll get as much mileage with that now … I don’t think his kids will let him and if they fail people are on to him and he won’t get to do that …

  99. Hal said yesterday that Jacko’s kids should have money so that
they will be cared for their whole lives. Why? Let them work like
    the rest of us.

  100. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

President Obama’s big gay press conference. Super!

  101. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

liberalhussein is trying to be capt obvious today

    ———————————————————————
Look! On the live blog! It’s a comment! It’s a post! It’s Capt. Obvious!

  102. Gov Sanford had at least three mistresses. I could care
less about a politicians personal life except when it
turns out he’s a lying hypocrite who would legislate
morality for the rest of us, while doing whatever he wants…
Hal is right: when you run on your morality and then
show you have none it is a breech of trust.

  103. cause filling the court with crazy right wing wackos

  104. PJ Squeezy Louise Hussein McFlavin says:

#111: Meaning that being tone deaf and having no rhythm would disqualify someone from a lucrative career in showbiz? Hmm, interesting theory.

  105. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

wonder if MJ’s mother will need to file papers against Joe … or if the Jackson children will stand against their dad

    ———————————————————————
The Jackson kids are probably still terrified of Joe.

  106. Geevie says:

I think Hal’s right, and I hope the story is true that he has 200 songs willed to them to provide for them. It’s not like they can go fling fries at the local Burger King. These kids are so far behind the eight ball right now they need all the help they can get to wrestle some kind of sanity from this upbringing.

And Cindy I sure hope you’re right. Nothing in JJ’s behavior gives me any confidence he won’t at least try.

  107. Rocky Mountain High, Colorado says:

111, MJ’s kids won’t have his talent, since none of them are biologically related to him.

  108. Mark – no, they will be objects to be used their entire life… just like their father … they need to have some power to resist that

  109. I wouldn’t let JJ within 50 feet of any child

  110. I’M hoping Mrs. Jackson takes the stand up roll against Joe that she may have failed at when MJ was young.

  111. yup … if my father’s pace maker malfunctions and kills him we can’t sue the makers of the pacemaker

  112. Amy outside of DC says:

#122 Seriously, those kids don’t look like modern nor classic MJ. I know he’s supposed to be the father, but I think he wanted a white baby more than one with his DNA. I asked the internets and found vitaligo is genetic, but tends to show up in the 30s, not as children.

  113. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

John Kerry was the most liberal senator in 2004. Then Barack Obama was the most liberal senator in 2008. The Repubs just use “liberal” as a slur against any and everybody they don’t like.

  114. Amy – he’s not the biological father of any of them, It has already been reported that he’s not … plus I know of a few kids who had vitaligo in their teens

  115. liberal – I’m hoping they aren’t Jermaine has even changed religions, which would indicate some independence and standing up to Joe

  116. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

When in the blue hell is the MN Supreme Court going to rule on Franken V. Coleman?

  117. Amy outside of DC says:

#130 I hadn’t heard it confirmed. Those kids aren’t teenagers yet, so that part of my theory still stands.
Personally, I think they are better off. Having your father die is awful, but now the kids will be able to go out in public without veils.
On someone’s news yesterday I saw that although Joe Jackson and Katherine are still married, he spends most of his time in Vegas. Between the distance and the older Jackson kids watching out for their niece and nephews, they should be ok with their grandmother.

  118. Geevie says:

I’m still trying to figure out when Liberal became such a dirty word. I’ve resisted the term “Progressive” because I refuse to surrender the word to the Neo-Cons who wish to make it a negative.

  119. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

liberal – I’m hoping they aren’t Jermaine has even changed religions, which would indicate some independence and standing up to Joe

    ———————————————————————
Bravo to Jermaine. His musical career should have gone further than it did.

  120. Geevie says:

Sometimes I whip out my “Jesus: The Original Liberal” argument just to see if the veins in their heads actually pop.

  121. I want MJ’s lawyer to explain why there is NO WILL … what kind of personal lawyer doesn’t make sure his client with kids doesn’t have a will?

  122. Joe Jacksons 80th birthday is July 26, 1929 (1929-07-26) (age 79)

    Controversies

Jackson’s image as a father was tainted throughout the late 1980s through the mid 1990s in which the media reported stories told by some of his children that Jackson was abusive towards his children. When he managed his family, he ordered each of them to call him “Joseph”, which led to several siblings being estranged from their father.

In 2003, in an interview for BBC TV, Joseph admitted to using physical punishment on his children and also voiced his disapproval of homosexuality.[4]

Michael Jackson claimed that from a young age he was physically and emotionally abused by his father, enduring incessant rehearsals, whippings and name-calling, but also contended that his father being a strict disciplinarian played a large part of his success.[5][6] In one altercation — later recalled by Marlon Jackson – Joseph held Michael upside down by one leg and “pummeled him over and over again with his hand, hitting him on his back and buttocks.”[7] Joseph would also trip up or push his male children into walls. One night while Michael was asleep, Joseph climbed into his room through the bedroom window. Wearing a fright mask, he entered the room screaming and shouting. Joseph said he wanted to teach his children not to leave the window open when they went to sleep. For years afterward, Michael suffered nightmares about being kidnapped from his bedroom.[7]

Michael first spoke openly about his childhood abuse in a 1993 interview with Oprah Winfrey. He said that during his childhood he often cried from loneliness and would sometimes get sick or start to vomit upon seeing his father.[8][9][10][11] In Michael’s other high profile interview, Living with Michael Jackson (2003), the singer covered his face with his hand and began crying when talking about his childhood abuse.[7] Jackson recalled that Joseph sat in a chair with a belt in his hand as he and his siblings rehearsed and that “if you didn’t do it the right way, he would tear you up, really get you.”[12]

    [edit] Current work

Joseph is currently hosting a boot camp for aspiring hip-hop artists, both to move his career to the next stage and to change what he sees as distasteful about the genre. “Everybody is liking rap now. I’m going to have to clean it up a little bit, all that vulgar language out there. I’m going to have to keep that clean, with nice singing in it, and great music behind it”.

Jackson, following the June 25, 2009 death of Michael Jackson, attended the BET Awards on June 28. At the event, the patriarch talked with reporters on the red carpet and plugged his new projects, he went on to do the same thing the following day bringing in a business partner, which earned him new criticism from the public.

  123. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

Harry Reid could get some balls sewed on.

  124. soooo, you can’t have sexual feelings for men (being a man) but as long as you don’t act on it you’re not gay?

boy the de-gaying christians have a problem

  125. MidWestRuth says:

so everyone who’s a virgin —is of undetermined sexuality? you have to have sex to have sexuality ? this caller is goofy

  126. Geevie says:

Hal, I love ya n’ everything… but I think Prince might have you beat in the PC department.

  127. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

I’m still trying to figure out when Liberal became such a dirty word. I’ve resisted the term “Progressive” because I refuse to surrender the word to the Neo-Cons who wish to make it a negative.

    ———————————————————————
It’s happened slowly over time. The right started their campaign to turn “liberal” into something evil in the 60s.

  128. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

Now that you mention it, I do remember reading someplace that Jermaine had converted to Islam.

  129. shāf says:

  138. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

    James is a complete idiot!!!!

  139. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

It’s not racism for a Latino woman to understand Latino issues better than a white man. And that’s not what she said, anyway.

  140. caller are you saying you can understand and fully appericate menstrual pain and that a woman truly understand what it’s life mentally and physically when you can’t get it up?

sorry I’m just tried of the white man understands everything mantra

  141. MidWestRuth says:

I’m liking the one-year trigger being discussed – it’s free publicity for how bad things really are.

  142. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

We need Steph and her box to achieve Sparta.

  143. SpiffyHussein says:

Hello all. Boy I sleep unevenly these days. I should be working nights in a bar to match with my sleep pattern.

I just heard Hal say that Kerry was going for a 10 year trigger for a public option?

I will never vote for Kerry for anything again. To even suggest such a thing shows that he is someone’s lady of the night when it comes to insurance.

  144. no because you define it as two CONSENTING ADULTS

  145. SpiffyHussein says:

#162—-No triggers. People are dying this year from lack of health care.

If we can invade Iraq in 3 weeks we can provide health care for all now.

  146. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

    Keith Partridge hot!

    I’ll take Susan Dey hot.

  147. Sarah in Santa Cruz says:

    Hi, All
On the drive in, did I hear Hal brag about how many women he’s had?

  148. shāf says:

#163 We also need all our usual eMooks online as well. I think some folks are taking the week off from the ol typpie-typpie.

  149. SpiffyHussein says:

Hey I feel special! I got an honest-to-god paper note from the White House. It called me “Dear Friend”.

Isn’t that nice? Bush never sent me a damn thing and I wrote to him plenty of times. Of course I cussed at Dubya a couple of times so that probably wasn’t received well, but still…. ;-)

  150. SpiffyHussein says:

    167—I’ll take Bobby Sherman cute.

  151. shāf says:

#168 Not to my knowledge. Are you sure you didn’t get some station bleed-over from Rush’s broadcast?

  152. shāf says:

#171 Some days, I’d settle for “Kermit the Frog” cute. ;)

  153. Sarah in Santa Cruz says:

Re: the call from Tony in Santa Cruz. You know I’m going to be looking for a man wearing a golf shirt with slogans all over it! I remember that he said, “Medical Insurance is Murder, Inc.,” and “Stop Post-natal Abortion,” but what was the first one? I’m drawing a blank.

  154. #172 I used to have that happen to me a few years ago, but it was Rush intermixed with Al Franken. Talk about weird!!

  155. Sarah in Santa Cruz says:

    170-you’re too cool for school!

  156. Sarah in Santa Cruz says:

172-I guess I dreamed it. Good. I thought it was weird.

  157. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

So far TM-Sleaze is the only one “confirming” that MJ and Rowe aren’t the biological parents of MJ’s kids. Waiting for credible confirmation.

  158. k to the g says:

Morning all! Hal is making healthcare entertaining today. He’s so kewt, as Steph would say. :-D

  159. shāf says:

    Hal is a freakin’ genius!

  160. SpiffyHussein says:

#138—I heard Thom Hartmann come out and say something about Jackson which is probably the truth. He said that Michael was probably gay in truth but because his father and the African American community is so very against homosexuality he would never come out. He may never even have come out to himself in the silence of his own heart.

If any African Americans are reading this, please don’t hate me, Thom Hartmann said it. I’m just the messenger.

But I agree with Thom. I think that young man had a mountain of internal struggles he was coping with daily, but also had a truckload of God-given talent.

Why people can’t accept that God makes talent but He also makes some people gay, I will never understand.

  161. SpiffyHussein says:

173—I like Kermit the Frog cute too.

  162. Sarah in Santa Cruz says:

Gale Storm died yesterday. Does anyone remember “My Little Margie” and “The Gale Storm Show? I know I’m old, but I used to love her and Zazu Pitts on their cruise boat. And in my own defense, I’m positive that I watched those shows in re-runs! Both of those shows were recycled over and over on American tv.

  163. INTENTIONAL

Health Insurance profits are BLOOD MONEY

  164. MidWestRuth says:

I think too many people are intimidated and won’t call congress and say they’ll vote out anyone who doesn’t vote public option. Need to get postcards, or car stickers, or s.th else that can be a visible protest.

  165. shāf says:

    #182 Awww, thanks! ;)

  166. k to the g says:

Conspiracy corner – I heard Jackson was given female hormone shots so his voice wouldn’t change and he didn’t go through puberty at the natural time.

  167. Amy outside of DC says:

I gotta repeat myself from yesterday? They’re not “Pro Life”, they’re pro fetus. They don’t give a damn once the baby is born. That’s why they want to ban abortion along with Head Start and WIC.

  168. Sarah in Santa Cruz says:

Introducing more competition into the American marketplace. What a concept!

  169. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

We are dysfunctional. That’s for sure.

  170. SpiffyHussein says:

185—-That’s a good idea. We should all get bumper stickers. I’m serious.

  171. what we need is a shiny new Preventative Health Care Model

  172. Geevie says:

Hal is a glowing brain that owns. It’s amazing what that guy knows.

  173. Sarah in Santa Cruz says:

188-We can’t repeat it enough, Amy!

  174. amy – they aren’t even pro fetus.. they are anti women

if they were pro fetus they wouldn’t have been okay with Bush allowing stem cell research on fetal cells ONLY for private research .. they would have demanded that it be made illegal for all

  175. MidWestRuth says:

Maybe Sweden will adopt us, and it’ll all be better…

  176. k to the g says:

We could mention to congress critters – it’s public healthcare for us or it’s your job – you choose

  177. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

    ———————————————————————
We’ll never know. Whatever internal demons he had died with him.

  178. okay that’s it for me … gotta go … have a good gay everyone

  179. SpiffyHussein says:

193—the best preventative health care in the world is having the freedom to go to the doctor.

Right now millions of us, even the insured, do not have the freedom to go to the doctor because we can’t afford it if they find bad news.

  180. shāf says:

#191 I was thinking that the Jacksons put the “func” in “disfunctional”.

  181. Sarah in Santa Cruz says:

    Good gay to you, Cindy!

  182. Sarah in Santa Cruz says:

    hee, hee, hee

  183. Sarah in Santa Cruz says:

    203- :D

  184. k to the g says:

Hal should open a clinic for hotness

  185. WH-Roger says:

Sick and tired of the broken system we now have, in November, people voted for “change” in the health care system. People want health CARE (not health insurance)!!

  186. SpiffyHussein says:

#196—-Speaking of stem cells, I heard about a really exciting experiement being done on a heart patient here in LA. He is receiving injections of stem cells to see if they can repair the damage done to his heart after heart attacks.

If has worked on rats but he is the first human to try it.

It will take about 6 months to see if his heart is able to grow new, healthy heart tissue to replace the dead tissue leftover from his heart attacks.

Wouldn’t that be something if it works? Even if it works just a bit?

  187. shāf says:

Need Mama’s drop: “Why don’t you just die?!”

  188. k to the g says:

congress would be in rehab if they lost their meds

  189. Sarah in Santa Cruz says:

    210-WOW.

  190. SpiffyHussein says:

    #203—hee, hee, hee. That’s cute.

  191. k to the g says:

    life, schmife.

  192. Sarah in Santa Cruz says:

Spif-My 14-year-old is in L.A. for a month. I put her on a plane Sunday night. Watch out for her, OK? She’s the Chinese one.

  193. shāf says:

Yep. The K Street Project is still alive and well. We have to get to public financing of campaigns to get the checkbook out of the political process.

  194. SpiffyHussein says:

This lady is right—we should send Congresspeople out on a field trip to find individual insurance for themselves.

After that, when they can’t get any, we send them out on another field trip to try to find a free or low-cost clinic for themselves.

  195. SpiffyHussein says:

216—Good heavens! Are you crazy? ;-) I’m assuming she is with a chaperone who has a good GPS system in their car?

  196. WH-Roger says:

When the fire truck pulls up to your burning house, they don’t check to see if you have fire INSURANCE first, then refuse to put the fire out if you don’t have any. INSURANCE does NOT belong in health care, just as it doesn’t belong in fire or police protection. Insurance companies are in the BUSINESS for profit, which means they don’t care about your health, they care about their bottom line. We need to get profit (and insurance companies) out of health care!

  197. shāf says:

    #216 Now, that’s funny!

  198. Sarah in Santa Cruz says:

219-She’s being a teacher’s aide at her old elementary school and staying with friends. I miss her already!

  199. Liberal Hussein Smurf says:

    Have a good day, all.

  200. Sarah in Santa Cruz says:

    Bye, Hal, et al
    See you tomorrow!

  201. shāf says:

    Great show, Hal!

  202. Joyce Bunting says:

OMG I LOVE Hal Sparks…. Hal – if you ever need someone to bear your children or be your love slave look me up…..xoxo

Love the show yesterday and today.

  203. SpiffyHussein says:

222—OK. She will probably be fine. ;-) Have a nice day all.

  204. SpiffyHussein says:

Yes, great show Hal! Way to hold down the fort!!

  205. Carol Hussein in Central Mass says:
