watersRep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) calls in at 7:30am Pacific to talk about the economy, the mortgage crisis, and the bank stress tests.

• President Obama called the April jobs numbers showing the nation lost another 539,000 jobs last month “encouraging” yet still a “sobering” economic toll. “It underscores the point that we’re still in the midst of a recession that was years in the making and will be months or even years in the unmaking.”

President Obama this weekend called on Congress to pass a credit card reform bill so he can sign it into law by Memorial Day. The president highlighted abuses in the credit card industry – including Americans getting ripped off by sudden rate hikes, unfair penalties, hidden fees, and fine print that all too often hides the truth.

pyramidsPresident Obama will deliver a key speech in Egypt on June 4th, the White House said Friday. Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said the speech will give the president the opportunity to “extend the hand to those that in many ways are like us but simply have a different religion.

President Obama spared nobody, including himself, at his humorous speech in front of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night. He touched on his own gaffes, and harpooned GOPers like Rush Limbaugh and Dick Cheney.

the stephcast. is it okay?

351. Nor am I a fan of abba. :( is it a generation thing?

mmmOK, let's see if that worked...

I was 20 in 1972 and already the married father of two, a two-year vet of the navy. I hated disco, which was the bucket I tossed ABBA into. I thought some great rock and roll was being made in the early 70s, but you will NEVER hear it played on the radio, you will never see a time-life collection of it. You will have to sweat and struggle to find that music, just as you did then--It was when Bruce Springsteen was just starting out and Jo Jo Gunn and Ten Wheel Drive with Genya Ravan (and Genya Ravan's solo career). It was a whole world of great music, but you won't find it anywhere. A lot of it never even got shoveled over to CDs.

#265???!!!! BLASPHEMER!!!!!!!!!!!

Mel,

I should watch it again. I only saw it the one time and maybe I wasn't in the right mood. It's the type of movie I usually like.

BYE!

340. load it into gravatar.com and it will follow your email address

346. see, I'm not the only nube. Any vets want to fill us in?

>> Cindy in Boston muse of the Anti-Pirate Astroglide Cannon says:
>>In 1972 I was 10
>> so Ron you were younger than that?

No, I was 14. I should have said I was a teen in the '70s, not a child. I'm 51.

I wasn't trying to lie about my age! (It's a running joke in my family that I can never remember how I was or am.)

Well I gotta get off line.

Bye Cindy and the eMooks.

340 I'm sorry, but I don't know.

Oh, I'm looking forward to Randi today. See ya!

335. Too funny! Comes in black to match her cocktail dresses

Yeah, Ann Coulter would know that attaching electrodes to the testicles is torture...that's probably why (s)he keeps them tucked up under that skirt!

Cindy-my daughter just got over something - not swiney, I think. Hope your boy feels better soon!

Have a great day everyone and try to catch Randi later today!

Hey guys, how do you get your photo to show up on the liveblog?

have a good afternoon peeps

I need to find the vaporizer for my son -- cold, flu or swine flu?
:-)

332 You're not completely off. Maybe we just see it differently. She does say at one point that she used to listen to abba because he life sucked, but now she doesn't have to because her life is as good as an ABBA song. Cracked me up when she played ABBA at her wedding. LMAO

I'm waiting for Steele to start flashing gang signs!
Have a great day, my peeps. (See how cool I am?)
:-D

That's it for today.

Have a great rest of the day, y'alls!

k to the g

I think we should just send colture a horse feed bag
http://www.feedritebag.com/

Hope you all have a great afternoon!

Ron-I graduated from H.S. in '71, so I was too cool for Abba, I guess. I do like them, but not like I love my '60s groups.

>> mel7190 says:
>> 283 That’s not exactly what I got from the movie. I see it more as she’s a person who doesn’t follow what’s trendy at the time.

Did I get it wrong? It's been awhile since I saw the movie.

My memory is that when she's depressed, she listens to Abba but when she's feeling healthy, she doesn't. ANd, she's aware that Abba is like an addiction.

Why is it that although Steele is black, when he talks "black" he still seems like those white kids that try to dress and act black?

In 1972 I was 10
so Ron you were younger than that?

Pelt Coulter with equine hermaphrodite kibble

Congrats on your Sparta, Cindy!

me thinks Producer Chris got this from the liveblog

from twitter:

radioguychris: Sykes said she hopes Rush's kidney fails. We know at least one of his organs has failed, seeing how he carried all that illegal Viagra...

Ok the Heezy joke was HIlarious.

Sarah,

I just checked it -- Abba formed in 1972.

I was a child in the '70s and we laughed at Abba and their fans as rock and roll wimps. The same for Queen, Captain & Tennille, England Dan & John Ford Coley and that whole bunch.

I enjoy SOME of them now, but not most.

in the hee zee?

from twitter:

greenpeaceusa Check out our Recycled Tissue and Toilet Paper iPhone app! http://bit.ly/c0X4t

(LOL, somehow recycled toilet paper isn't appealing to me)

307. The DVD is great too!

If not for the Bush administration and tienanmen square, Cohen would probably be in retirement.

When Ann dropped that line about testicle electrodes i wonder if conservative men across America sat up straighter in their chairs?

What can we pelt her with here?

thank you, thank you

Yay, Cindy. You are an ABBAn Spartan! *bows*

If Man Coulter lived in Paris, she'd be pelted with rotten tomatoes.

Yay Cindy, an ABBA SPARTA!

Lying scum Ann Coulter. she could hop into a wood-chipper any
time, fine with me. I'd start the thing up for her.

I can't believe we made it! Congrats Fernando Sparta! LOL

Listening to Ann Coulter is definitely torture.

Well, hope you all have a wonderful day!

later!

HA!

cackle cackle

it's the power of ABBA

Leonard Cohen rarely tours and tickets are expensive.
I thought I'd never get to see him live. What an
experience! I'm still in shock. He's so great, such
a philosopher, such a poet.
