87468Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy (D-OH) calls in at 7:30am Pacific to discuss TARP funds misuse, specifically related to outsourcing, and how that affects the American people.

fugelsang• Comedian John Fugelsang joins us in studio at 8:06am Pacific to talk about the news of the day and his show at the Fanatic Salon in West Los Angeles tonight.

President Obama said yesterday he’ll “take responsibility” for AIG executives receiving controversial bonuses while the company took $173 billion in government bailouts. “We didn’t draft these contracts… but it is appropriate when you’re in charge to make sure stuff doesn’t happen like this,” Obama told a town hall meeting in Costa Mesa, CA.

Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) told CNN yesterday that he was responsible for language added to the federal stimulus bill to make sure that already-existing contracts for bonuses at companies receiving federal bailout money were honored.

• AIG CEO Edward Liddy told Congress yesterday that he asked executives who received retention bonuses last week to “do the right thing” and return at least half the money. Some AIG employees have already come forward to return their full bonuses.

• Tony-winning actress Natasha Richardson died yesterday at age 45 in New York after suffering a head injury from a skiing accident. Richardson was the wife of actor Liam Neeson, the daughter of actress Vanessa Redgrave, and niece of Lynn Redgrave.

"The only thing that lasts longer than a friend's love is the stupidity that keeps us from knowing any better."

~ Randy K. Milholland, Something Positive Comic, 09-07-06

You all have a great day!

See ya Friday ya bastids!

Have a great rest of the day, everyone!

Thanks for joining us, John.

Break a leg with your show!

Where is Hanky Panky now? In Dubai perhaps?

Hey guys, got to go.
Try to have a great Thursday, in spite of all the GOP spite.

Surprise! The rich don't move to avoid taxes

Just in time to tell my favorite bloggers yesterday's blog was so rotflmao funny...looking forward to reading today's.
and getting my podcast.
Have a great day!

It can't be Paulsons fault - we can't fire him

His name is Hank Paulson
His name is Hank Paulson
His name is Hank Paulson

I probably have the most fun on this live blog, though I rarely have the time

"Nothing is so admirable in politics as a short memory."

~ John Kenneth Galbraith (1908 - 2006)

Sounds like there are many dems and progressives who take their lede from Hannity.

"It is Geithner and Obama's fault - fire them all!"

lololololo

Plus, if you have to replace the tv you have to buy something made in another country.
Most windows are made in the US, and you have to hire someone to install it. Much better stimulus, breaking the window instead of the tv.

Fun on twitter
UtneReader:An apostrophe snuck into an Utne Reader tweet where it should not have been. We want to apologize. Press conference at 1 PM. Somewhere.

Have a great day too Sarah!

i'm on twitter .. never did much on either facebook or myspace..
actually I've done more on Stephspace

overheard last Saturday at Game Keeper, Pawtucket, RI
guys behind me were playing an RPG

"So what are you employing the George Bush axiom. When the choice is between doping nothing or making a stupid choice, you make the stupid choice?"

I nearly bust a gut

Black versus white, liberal versus conservative. They're all distractions to divide us, so that we don't gang up on the rich. Rich versus poor has a lot more people on the poor side, so they keep the poor divided.

Before the Revolutionary War, black slaves and white indentured servants were very much the same in status. After the war, the plantation owners were in charge and didn't want the farmers trying to take over, so they encouraged racial divide instead of economic divisions. And society has been falling for it ever since.

It is us against them -

Wait - US and THEM are labels too.

UGH!

352-Mormons have one of the best "welfare" programs in the world. Because they take care of their own, they inspire great loyalty. It may not make sense to us, but it does to them.
Well, the boss just arrived. Have a great day, All.

Polarizing yet unfortunately effective.

I agree, John! Labels are for polarizing.

If more people watch "Big Love", Romney doesn't stand a chance. Barb's recent visit to the Mormon Temple (with costumes and passwords to get through the veil) really makes the religion look silly. No wonder the Mormons keep the going ons in the temple secret, it's all based on 1800 standards and looks kind of ridiculous.

I'm not trying to put down the Mormon faith, but it makes Catholic confession look normal by comparison.

So can I ask the court to execute him now?

337
A thousand times THIS!!

Way too confusing. If I want to comment, I will. I can open the box myself, thank you.

346-I wish the news had been different re: Natasha Richardson. I feel for her family.

catcher's Mitt!!!

You can't go wrong with jokes about Nazis! ;)

Tributes to 'luminous' Richardson

Hey everyone! Sorry I'm late. Work, work, work, work....

Just as well. I feel like I've been kicked in the head. Repeatedly.

If one good thing comes out of March Madness / NIT whatever, it's that my wife's soap opera gets pre-empted and instead of having to watch the soap when I get home I can just curl under the covers and take care of this headache.

OMG Madoff asks court to release him

The other day, Rachel Maddow said that Dubyah can claim at least 8 people from his administration in jail, and more to come.

#10 capt says:
...He also wears Sketchers model “SPARTA” (no kidding)

I work in the shoe dept of a store and those are the UGLIEST mens' shoes that skechers makes!

I have always thought that John F. was pretty funny- but then just recently I was channel surfing and came across him on the teevee (I don't remember what chan or show) and he was kinda being a dick... I wish I could at least remember what he was saying... but all I can remember is thinking, "Geez, John Fuglesang is being a dick there... He always seemed funny and snarky to me, but not mean."

I'm not so angry with Facebook that I don't stop in every single day to play Pathwords. Here's something telling: the girl scores 1040, and I have gotten as high as 730. Isn't that sad?

#337 Agreed. Additionally, the comments are given equal weight (only indented) with the status updates. Very confusing!

facebook wants to compete with twitter

#336 "This isn't the Bush administration." Meaning if he is lying, he won't be getting the Presidentail Medal of Freedom.

#333 The most annoying thing is the comment boxes. It used to be you looked at something, if you wanted to comment, you did. Now your picture is there and the comment box is already open. Facebook is trying too hard to get people to type more.

One more time MAMA

GEITHNER HAD TO RECUSE HIMSELF FROM THE AIG DEAL BECAUSE HE WAS TAPPED FOR TREASURY SEC!

He was not involved and he didn't know about this - that is unless you are calling him a liar?

This isn't the Bush administration.

gabby - I'm not talking about Christ, I'm talking about McCain

The deal with Facebook is, they just got done apologizing for claiming (via a new user agreement) that all media saved on their site became their property. After the user outrage, they backed off.

Now, they make this major format change, presumably to make Facebook more Twitter-like. I'm not buyin' it!

GO SEE JOHN FUGELSANG !

If you can - I know you'll love his show!

He is smart, funny and wears SPARTA Sketchers!

327-OK. Let's ask him.
John, did you happen to see a guy with ENORMOUS bug eyes yawning during the show?
