Frances Callier & Angela V. Shelton (Frangela) join us in studio at 7:30am Pacific for another edition of Fridays With Frangela!!!

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) calls in at 8:30am Pacific to tell us about the progress being made in passing President Obama’s economic stimulus plan.

The Senate plans to vote on the $789 billion compromise stimulus late tonight after an all-day debate, Majority Leader Harry Reid said yesterday from the chamber floor. The House, which had planned to vote on the package yesterday, delayed it until today after many rank-and-file Dems who were unhappy with some spending cuts demanded time to read the compromise measure.

Republican Sen. Judd Gregg withdrew his nomination as President Barack Obama’s commerce secretary yesterday, citing “irresolvable conflicts” over the administration’s stimulus bill and the upcoming 2010 census. He’s the second nominee to withdraw from consideration for the post after Bill Richardson withdrew in January.

The Senate last night confirmed Leon Panetta as CIA director by unanimous consent. Panetta, who served as President Clinton’s chief of staff, now becomes the oldest person to head the spy agency at 70.

A Continental Airlines plane crashed into a home near Buffalo, NY late last night, killing 44 passengers and 4 crew members. One person in the home was also killed.

Time for lunch ...good Valentines to All

Absolutely.

It hurts everyone, beyond NY, for sure.

609- I know, but people tend to forget that when the stock market crashes it hurts Upstate New York, not just the city.

Liberal Hussein 591 - does it count after 9:00 AM? Should we keep trying?

---------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know if it counts.

595- That'll happen in a lot of towns in a lot of states before we are all done.

"A large percentage of US personal bankruptcies are directly attributable to catastrophic illness. With universal health care we’d have alot fewer foreclosures etc."

um, a culture of corruption is pretty damned attributable, too.

you know, if a single nation can create 2 global economic meltdowns in under a century...

something's *seriously* wrong.

Of course it counts Cyndi

Bye everyone. Have a great weekend. As for me I'll be at work.

A large percentage of US personal bankruptcies are directly attributable to catastrophic illness. With universal health care we'd have alot fewer foreclosures etc.

This Fairness Doctrine might mean something if I felt that the FCC wasn't trying to kill off AM radio entirely.

When they had a 1 year anniversary for the at the time progressive wvko 1580 programing the public loved the station so much that they had to turn most of the people that came out away because the venue just wasn't big enough. They expected a couple hundred and over a thousand showed up.

Don't give me that wine and dine crap, young lady. Oh, snap!!!

you can't go there too much... !

do they still have that artists' co-op store in the back?

Hey, is this Right Wing World?

Corporate control of media is to futher the rightwing political agenda, not necessarily to make money. geesh.

Left wing radio is whiny when the whiner calls in to whine about whining.

Makes perfect sense!

Wanting freedom, justice, and equality for everyone is so whiney.
